BOII-CENOMANI

FROM PO RIVER TO PARMA AND  BOLOGNA

The ÀNARI, a major tribe of the Boii, they settled in the area between Parma and Piacenza to the river Taro. Their territory bordered on that of Cenomani, inhabitants of Brescia. The town of Brescello, south of the Po, was cenomane although anâro territory.

About a hundred boiche tribes settled in the territory between the Taro River in the west to the east and the river Montone.

The BOII,Celts were the first to settle in the south of the Po, came from the Upper Danube territories corresponding to the current Tyrol and Bavaria.

The LINGONI,went down in a territory between the river Po and today's low-Romagna, bordering Boico. The Lingoni came from the valleys of the Marne. The Marne River descends from Langres (which took its name from Lingones), and get onto the Seine not far from Paris.

The SENONI, from the valley of the Yonne, bordering Burgundy, settled in the valleys of the Rubicon, and in today's Marecchia Montefeltro. The Yonne is a tributary of the Seine, in France there is still the memory of them, in the name of the river.

Ànari, Boii, Lingoni and Sénoni, went down in the areas that correspond to Emilia-Romagna today.

The boundary between the territories of the Senonian and Boii was, according to dr. Bertani, the river Bidente-Ronco (Utis or Utens) that runs at Forlì.

The southern limit of the territory senonico was the river Esino, just north of the Greek Ancona, while the border with the territory of the Veneti was the river Adige.

The Sénoni emerged as a much higher population and dominant. They were militarily prepared and consists mainly of many warriors.

However, that among the various peoples Celts seems to remain of hostilities and tensions mainly due to uneven purely cultural.

The Boii and Sénoni, maintained a real distinction, as well as for reasons of local interest, even for different mentality, culture and traditions.

IMPORTANT  INTRODUCTION.

ALL THE DRACHMS  AND EMIDRACHMS ON THIS WEBSITE ARE THE BEST EXAMPLES THAT  I COULD FOUND.

THE MOST OF THESE ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.

OWNERSHIP OF MOST OF THE DRACHM  IS OF MUSEUMS, SOME ARE PUBLISCHED IN THE AUCTIONS AND ONLY A FEW OF THEM BELONGS TO PRIVATE.

IN ORDER TO EXCLUDE ANY DOUBT RELATING TO DRACMS AND EMIDRACHMS OF PADANIA CELTIC (NORTH ITALY), I HAVE DECIDED TO PUT ALSO DRACHMS OF LOW PRESERVATION WITH SOME PROBLEMS DUE TO IMPORTANT  FACTORS  AS  CORROSION,  OXIDATION,   EXFOLIATION ETC., CAUSED BY THE TIME AND IN PARTICULAR WAY  BY THE VARIOUS TYPES OF LAND WITH FEATURES OF STRONG  OR LOW ACIDITY, CAUSED ALSO FROM FERTILIZERS AND CHEMICAL POLLUTANTS.

I HAVE DECIDED TO ADD THESE LOW PRESERVATION DRACMS BECAUSE NORMALLY WHEN DRACHMS OF VERY HIGH PRESERVATION ARE SEEN IT’S EASY TO GIVE INCORRECT ASCRIPTION WITHOUT ANY FONDATION.

IDENTICAL DRACMS OF THE SAME COINAGE PRESETED IN THIS WEBSITE OR THAT THERE WILL BE INSERTED THEY WILL BE NO MORE THEN  TWO COPIES.

ALTHOUGH IDENTICAL (FROM THE SAME COINAGE), THE TWO COPIES WILL BE DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWING:

THE FIRST DRACM WITH THE FEATURE OF HIGHT PRESERVATION:

FROM BB: FINE+ TO SPL: EXTREMELY FINE.

THE SECOND WITH THE FEATURE OF LOW PRESERVATION:

FROM M: POOR FINE TO qB: ALMOST  FINE. TO B: FINE.

THE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER OF THE DRACM WILL BE:

No. 889 A IDENTICAL TO No. 889

EXAMPLE:

SEE THE DRACM No. 889 IN THE CENOMANI SECTION.
